Research to REALity: Practical Applications for Beyond Ready

The 2026 PYD Academy series, Research to REALity: Practical Applications for Beyond Ready, is designed to support the 4-H Beyond Ready initiative by providing research-based information and practical application focused on three critical areas of youth readiness: developing real-world skills in youth through challenge and discovery, encouraging youth goal setting and management, and promoting caring connection with youth. This virtual series is made up of two parts:

• Research to Practice Conference (February 3-5, 2026): Each day of the conference will feature a keynote address from a leading researcher who will provide research evidence and practical applications for all levels of 4-H educators. The keynote address will be followed by a highly interactive reflection session focused on translating the research into everyday 4-H programs and practice to ensure youth are Beyond Ready. 

• Immersion Days (February 18, March 4, and March 18, 2026): These immersions are built to further expand on putting theory into action. Each of the three dedicated sessions directly aligns with one day of the conference, allowing you to deepen your learning and apply the research. These interactive days focus on providing hands-on tools and program replication ideas to embed Beyond Ready concepts into your daily work.

4-H PYD Academy equips 4-H and other youth development professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality youth development programs that help youth be Beyond Ready. 4-H PYD Academy is an output of the 4-H PLWG Chartered Committee on Positive Youth Development. 4-H PYD Academy learning opportunities are convened and supported by National 4-H Council in collaboration with Extension 4-H professionals from across the country.
